Dating back to his days on the campaign trail, President Trump has often recited a poem called “The Snake,” as a warning about the dangers of welcoming refugees and immigrants into the country. In the Video Op-Ed above, I show how the parable is much more instructive when applied to Trump’s political rise. From his racist birther conspiracy theory to being forced to pay $2 million for using his charity for his own political gain, anyone paying close attention knew the kind of president he would be.
