The Sunday Funnies
When your brother was just a very young boy of 7 years old I had one of the largest News Paper routes in Winston – Salem North Carolina. Delivering for the Journal & Sentinel.
Every morning I would get up way before daylight and walk down the street to Leroy’s Barbecue where our newspapers were dropped for me to put together for delivery.
My route was so huge I would have to make 2 or 3 tripes to reload to complete my delivers.
Especially the Sunday paper was so big and huge I had to make many trips to reload and deliver.
Not only did I deliver the papers way before school time but we had an evening paper as well we delivered in the evenings.
I remember each week I would ride my bicycle into town to pay my paper bill and what was left over was mine to spend.
WTOB AM Radio in Winston – Salem sponsored a Kiddy Show at one of the Movie Theaters and I would treat myself going to the Kiddy Show.
I would buy my own clothes and even bought my darling sister gifts with my own money.
Since I was so young the most favorite part of the News Paper for me was the Funnies.
Especially the Sunday Funnies for they were more of them and colorful.
Even to this day I still see myself as this same little Newspaper Boy carrying the News to those who want to learn more.
Especially regarding the Good News and some good clean humor.
Even to this day I still see myself wanting to read and share the Funnies during the week but especially the Sunday Funnies that is more of them and more colorful.
Perhaps you can see this little newspaper boy being reflected in your ole brother how we share information in this modern day of ours.
Just thought I would share this little tidbit of personal information regarding your ole brother.
Hope you have a most marvelous day and have enjoyed your brother delivering you the Sunday Funnies Today.
Love You Lots,
Brother G
